Em 1945 foi criada a famosa Maison Pierre Balmain em Paris, apresentando colecções têxteis de design com pormenores sofisticados, luxuosos e elegantes. Sempre foi associada às grandes celebridades, vestindo pessoas famosas como Brigitte Bardot, Marlene Dietrich, Katherine e Audrey Hepburn. Pierre Balmain costumava descrever a arte de fazer roupas como “arquitectura do movimento” demonstrando que as suas concepções são para usar no dia-a-dia! O fundador da marca morreu em Paris em 1982, e apesar do prestígio, a marca passou por tempos difíceis. Oscar de la Renta assumiu a marca durante pouco menos de 10 anos.

Em meados dos anos 2000, a marca Balmain voltou aos holofotes graças ao trabalho do designer Christophe Decarnin, que ficou conhecido por investir em um estilo que remetia à herança costura de Balmain, misturando essas referências com o universo do rock, criou peças texteis inspiradas em músicos e fashion icons como Prince e Michael Jackson. Com a saída de Decarnin em 2011, a marca foi assumida pelo “fenómeno” Olivier Rousteing.

Fenómeno, pois Rousteing levou Maison Balmain ao desejo mundial. É de perder a conta a lista de celebridades que vestem as criações de Olivier Rousteing podemos citar algumas: Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Rihanna e Jane Fonda. Ao longo dos anos, o universo da marca foi expandido, e aumentou o seu portfólio para sapatos, malas, perfumes, relógios e óculos.

In 1945 the famous Maison Pierre Balmain was created in Paris, featuring designer textile collections with sophisticated, luxurious and elegant details. She has always been associated with big celebrities, wearing famous people like Brigitte Bardot, Marlene Dietrich, Katherine and Audrey Hepburn. Pierre Balmain used to describe the art of making clothes as “architecture of movement” demonstrating that his designs are for everyday use! The brand’s founder died in Paris in 1982, and despite the prestige, the brand has gone through difficult times. Oscar de la Renta took over the brand for just under 10 years.

In the mid-2000s, the Balmain brand returned to the spotlight thanks to the work of designer Christophe Decarnin, who became known for investing in a style that referred to the heritage of Balmain sewing, mixing these references with the rock universe, creating inspired textile pieces in musicians and fashion icons like Prince and Michael Jackson. With the departure of Decarnin in 2011, the brand was taken over by the “phenomenon” Olivier Rousteing.

Phenomenon, since Rousteing led Maison Balmain to worldwide desire. The metal chosen for Balmain glasses is Japanese titanium because it is strong and light, it is the ideal material to use in the manufacture of glasses, it does not corrode and it is anti-allergic! Japanese acetate and wool acetate were also chosen to create rich colors with unmatched longevity and material flexibility. The platelets are also made of anti-allergic ceramic. Each piece is then finished by hand, being perfectly perceptible to the touch.

The logo is easily identified on the glasses, with a beautiful titanium finish, the Balmain monogram, has a circle around the letters “B” (Balmain) and “P” (Pierre, the founder and Paris, the brand’s headquarters).
